Story
We want to rally support and raise awareness for the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team! Based in the heart of the Scottish Cairngorms and operating out of Braemar and Ballater, they provide crucial mountain rescue services in the Southern Cairngorms, Glenshee, Lochnagar, and Deeside areas. They respond to over forty incidents each year and are ready 365 days a year, making them an indispensable part of our outdoor community.
Euan Maharg and I will be taking on an epic challenge: a classic rock link-up starting from Glenmuick Car Park and finishing at Cairngorm Car Park, spanning 64km. Along the way, we'll be soloing, simul-climbing, and pitching six classic rock routes. Our ambitious goal is to complete this in a single push, aiming for under 24 hours. We are planning to take on this endeavour in early August and currently awaiting a good weather window to do so safely.
Our mission is to raise awareness and funds for the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team. This exceptional team of volunteers is always on call and ready to selflessly deliver potentially life saving services if required by members of the outdoor community who like us who are drawn to the magnificent playground of the Scottish Cairngorms. They provide a vital service that we belive is often taken for granted and needs ongoing support to continue their life-saving work.
We will undertake the 'Cairngorm Link-up' in aid of Braemar Mountain Rescue. The Link-Up is a 62.6km traverse of the Cairngorm massif with 3532m of ascent including 6 multi-pitch rock climbs. This will be completed in one single push - hopefully under 24 hours - running, walking, crawling, simul-climbing, solo climbing, and grovelling our way into exhaustion.
The climbs are as follows:
Eagle Ridge (S) 250m
Squareface (VD) 90m
Cumming-Crofton Route (S) 180m
The Talisman (HS 4a) 100m
The Clean Sweep (VS 4c) 185m
Savage Slit (S) 80m2
Thank you!
