Lyttelton and Housman - Cairo to Cape Town

We are aiming to complete a triathlon the length of Africa along the Cairo to Cape Town Highway. The Cairo-Cape Town Highway is 10,228km and we will swim 'across Lake Victoria' (approx 300km), run across the 'Sahara desert' (approx 2000km) and cycle (approx 8000km) the remainder of the highway.

From each person participating, this equates to 1.5km swimming, 40km cycling and 10km running - so approximately an Olympic triathlon each!

Raising money for the CDG - UK through one central fundraising page, that the boys/we will advertise.

When: Thursday 13th February, starting at 8am, through until 8am on Friday 14th February 2025

Where: Dance studio / fitness suite / swimming pool

How: The Lyttelton and Housman students will aim to do a triathlon across Africa (collectively between them) continuously for 24 hours. The Cairo-Cape Town Highway is 10,228km and we will swim across 'Lake Victoria' (approx 300km), run across the 'Sahara desert' (approx 2000km) and cycle (approx 8000km) the remainder of the highway.

This can and will be split up across the challenge.

Boys to come in ‘year group’ shifts (roughly rotating through on a half-hour/hourly basis within those slots):

Thursday 0800-0855 - Sixth Form

Thursday P1-6 - Sixth Form without lessons

Thursday lunchtime - Fourth Form swimming

1600 - 2000 Fourth Form

2000 - 0000 Fifth Form

0000 - 0400 Upper Sixth

0400 - 0800 Lower Sixth
