Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page for Breast Cancer Now.

This year it is my goal to do lots of fundraising for this amazing charity and along the way, raise awareness of Breast Cancer in younger women.

Breast Cancer Now is dedicated to improving patient outcomes through world-class research and support services.

Each year over 5,000 women under the age of 45 are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK. Last year, I was one of them!

The Moment My Life Paused. At 34 years of age, family life was good, with an amazing husband and 2 beautiful children, each day was generally consumed with school runs, kids’ hobbies and career building. For me, in a heartbeat that changed. On a normal Wednesday morning during Feb half-term 2025, I was given the devastating news that I had breast cancer. It was difficult to comprehend, with no family history or other known risk factors, I found it hard to believe the little lump in my breast was cancer.

Being diagnosed at a young age brings a specific kind of fear, an uncertainty. It isn’t just about the physical battle; it’s about the "what-ifs" regarding my two young children and my family. Facing this diagnosis while trying to maintain a routine and "normal" life has been the hardest thing we have ever done. It would have been impossible without my amazing family and friends.

Breast Cancer Now was there for me throughout, from helping me to understand my diagnosis and treatment options, to meeting similar women, and helping me move on after treatment.

In short, 2025 has been the toughest but most humbling year of my life so far. If the past 12 months have taught me anything it is to be grateful for the new beginnings and appreciation of the simple joys in life, a feeling I hope stays with me. My aims for 2026 are to be healthy & continue to make memories with my family. However, my ultimate goal is to raise awareness (and hopefully some dosh!) for Breast Cancer Now.

I’ll be doing fundraising events throughout the year and ending with a BIG finale of the Great North Run on 13th September 2026! Eek!

Thank you for supporting me, for supporting my family, and for helping us ensure that no one has to face this alone.

By 2050, ‘Breast Cancer Now’ wants everyone who develops breast cancer to live—and live well. Together we can help make this happen!
