This year, I'm hoping to raise funds for this fantastic charity while also helping to raise awareness of breast cancer in younger women.

Breast Cancer Now is dedicated to improving patient outcomes through world-class research, expert information and support services for anyone affected by breast cancer.

Each year, more than 5,000 women under the age of 45 are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK. Last year, I became one of them.

In February 2025, at the age of 34, I was diagnosed with breast cancer following the discovery of a small lump. Like many people, I never expected it to happen to me. Life was busy with work, school runs, children's activities and all the usual family commitments, so receiving that diagnosis came as a real shock.

Throughout my treatment and recovery, Breast Cancer Now provided valuable information, support and opportunities to connect with others who understood what I was experiencing. Their services helped me navigate an unfamiliar situation and look ahead with confidence.

While 2025 was undoubtedly a challenging year, it also gave me a greater appreciation for the important things in life: family, friends, good health and making memories. As I move forward into 2026, I'm pleased to be focusing on new goals and giving something back to a charity that helped me so much.

Throughout the year I'll be taking part in various fundraising activities, with a slightly nerve-racking grand finale: the Great North Run on 13 September 2026. As someone who generally prefers cake to cardio, this will definitely be a challenge!

Every donation, no matter the size, will help fund vital research and support services for people affected by breast cancer.
