At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hey, I’m Caitlin. I am very new to this running malarkey and have only been running 4 months however, after completing my first 10K last month and currently training for my first half in 8 weeks time I decided I wanted to set myself a even bigger challenge of a marathon. So in 6 months time I will be participating in my first 26.2 mile run!

So since this is the biggest challenge I have ever set myself I thought I’d do this for a charity that is very close to mine and my family’s hearts. Just over 8 years ago my Grandma June was diagnosed with mixed dementia and since then as a family we have watched my grandma slowly deteriorate! Essentially grieving the loss of a person that is still with us today. I know my grandma would think I’m absolutely bonkers doing something like this especially for her but I know she would be so proud of me and everything that I achieved since her diagnosis.

Every Donation would mean the most and will help a cause that means so much to me 🫶🏼
