Caitlin's fundraiser for British Heart Foundation

Caitlin Garrett is raising money for British Heart Foundation
In memory of Claire Fraser

26.2 miles to round off 365 days of running · 31 December 2025

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

At the start of this year, I decided to run at least 5k every day in January. I then decided to continue on into February, and see if I could keep the run streak going.

Sadly, at the start of February, everyone at James Gillespie's High School lost a dear friend and colleague, Claire, to a heart attack. Claire was one of the kindest people I've ever known, and I cherish the memories from the time I worked in the same faculty as her.

In honour of Claire, and with the best wishes of her mum Ann, I came up with the plan to continue running at least 5k a day every day for 2025, and finish by running the marathon distance on New Year's Eve, to raise money in Claire's memory for the British Heart Foundation.

If anyone can donate, no matter how small, it will help drive me on on the 31st December when I know my legs will be needing all the extra motivation to get me through the last 26.2 miles!
