Newton Dee Camphill Community is a charity where adults with learning difficulties and coworkers live and work together. By living and working together we aim to break down the barrier between the carer and cared for, to meet each other as people, helping one another.

Story

I work in the Newton Dee Bakery, our current Bakery and Confectionery building is old and worn. And the required repairs would mean closing the workshops for over a year to carry out all the required work. I really don't want to miss out on working in the Bakery for that long. So instead, we in Newton Dee plan to build a new building up near our Store and Cafe. This would also help reduce traffic through the centre of our village, which is mostly pedestrianised to ensure that I can walk around safely in our beautiful community.

The new Bakery and Confectionery will also be much more efficient, reducing our carbon footprint and running costs for heating, and it will improve the layout and function of the spaces as therapeutic workshop.

This will also allow us to look at the old Bakery and Confectionery site in the future, without having to close down my busy and loved workshop.
