The Calais Food Collective is an organisation active in northern France which supports homeless displaced communities through the distribution of food, water, and cooking utensils. We aim to facilitate autonomy for the displaced communities by allowing them to cook for themselves as and when they wish. We are currently supporting around 500 people, and provide enough food so that people have the means to cook at least one meal a day for every day of the week.

The abhorrent conditions that people here are forced to live in have been further intensified by Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic, on top of the state mandated hostile environment which involves daily evictions and a ban on distributions in parts of the city.

However, soon it will be Ramadan and then Eid! Many of the communities we support observe this holy period, and we hope to provide appropriate food throughout. Therefore we would like to offer dates, eggs, fresh herbs and spices on a regular basis, as well as cakes, pastries, and sweet drinks and juice for Eid.

To give you an idea:

€15 will provide dates for one person for the entire month of Ramadan.

€45 will buy eggs for 15 people for the entire month of Ramadan.

€60 will buy pastries for 40 people for Eid El-Fitr.

€120 will buy enough soda and juice for 220 people for Eid El-Fitr.

We really need your help to fund these items and try to allow for people here to take part in Ramadan and celebrate Eid, despite the grim situation at the French-British border.

Le Calais Food Collective est une organisation active à Calais et aux alentours. Nous soutenons les communautés de personnes exilées en fournissant un service de distribution de nourriture, d'eau et d'ustensiles de cuisine. Dans cette région, des centaines de personnes sont forcés de vivre dehors, dans des conditions de vie précaires, à la merci des expulsions quotidiennes imposées par l’État.

Notre objectif est de faciliter l'autonomie des personnes en leur permettant de cuisiner au moins un repas par jour, par elles-mêmes, comme et quand elles le souhaitent. Actuellement, nous soutenons plus de 500 personne. D'ici fin Mars, date à laquelle le mois de Ramadan commencera, nous nous attendons à ce que ce nombre augmente. Lors de la période de Ramadan suivie de l'Aïd, nous souhaiterions soutenir les communautés exilées en fournissant une nourriture appropriée. C'est pour cela nous aimerions offrir régulièrement des dattes, des œufs, des herbes fraîches, des épices, mais également des gâteaux, des pâtisseries, des boissons sucrées et des jus pour l'Aïd.

Pour vous donner une idée :

15 € permettent d'acheter des dattes pour une personne pendant tout le mois de Ramadan.

45 € permettent d'acheter des œufs pour 15 personnes pendant tout le mois de Ramadan.

60 € permettent d'acheter des pâtisseries pour 40 personnes pour l'Aïd El-Fitr.

120 € permettent d'acheter suffisamment de sodas et de jus de fruits pour 220 personnes pour l'Aïd El-Fitr.

Calais Food Collective ist eine in Nordfrankreich tätige Organisation, die Menschen auf der Flucht durch die Verteilung von Lebensmitteln, Wasser und Kochutensilien unterstützt. Unser Ziel ist es, die Autonomie der Menschen zu fördern, die ohne sichere Unterkunft vor der französisch-britischen Grenze aufgehalten werden, indem wir ihnen die Möglichkeit geben, selbst zu kochen- wann und wo sie wollen. Dafür stellen wir genügend Lebensmittel zur Verfügung, damit die Menschen in der Lage sind, an jedem Tag der Woche mindestens eine Mahlzeit zu kochen. Zurzeit unterstützen wir etwa 500 Menschen. Wir gehen jedoch davon aus, dass diese Zahl bis zum Ramadan noch steigen wird.

Die abscheulichen Bedingungen, unter denen die Menschen in Calais leben müssen, haben sich durch den Brexit und die COVID-19-Pandemie weiter verschärft. Hinzu kommt, dass das Umfeld in Calais durch die Regierungen systematisch immer feindseliger gestaltet wird. Dies beinhaltet hohe Polizeipräsenz, tägliche Zwangsräumungen und ein Ausgabeverbot für Hilfsorganisationen in Teilen der Stadt.

Doch bald ist Ramadan und dann Eid! Viele der Gemeinschaften, die wir unterstützen, begehen diese heilige Zeit, und wir hoffen, dass wir während dieser Zeit angemessene Nahrungsmittel für sie bereitstellen können. Daher möchten wir während des heiligen Monats regelmäßig Datteln, Eier, frische Kräuter und Gewürze sowie zum Zuckerfest Kuchen, Gebäck, süße Getränke und Säfte anbieten.

Um Ihnen eine Vorstellung von der benötigten Unterstützung zu geben:

Für 15 € erhält eine Person Datteln für den gesamten Ramadan.

Mit 45 € können wir Eier für 15 Personen für den gesamten Ramadan kaufen.

Mit 60 € können wir Gebäck für 40 Personen für Eid El-Fitr kaufen.

120 € reichen aus, um 220 Personen mit Getränken und Saft für das Eid El-Fitr zu versorgen.

Wir brauchen dringend Ihre Hilfe, um diese Dinge zu finanzieren und den Menschen hier die Teilnahme am Ramadan und dem Zuckerfest zu ermöglichen, trotz der schwierigen Lage an der französisch-britischen Grenze.
