The Y provides opportunities that promote youth development, nurture healthy lifestyles and cultivate social responsibility. In 2020, the Y has adapted to meet our neighbors' unique challenges: From emergency care to food security to virtual classes, the Y fills the gaps for those who need it most.

Story

We are thrilled to announce that Caleb Merritt, wide receiver for the University of Wyoming and founder and CEO of 1 More Rep, is raising money to provide scholarships for YMCA youth sports in Cheyenne. Give today to uplift Wyoming’s littlest athletes and help ensure all children have access to the sportsmanship, community, mentors and skills that are fostered in sports programs. Here are a few reasons to support Caleb’s efforts:

• Over the last year, 1,034 children have participated in sports programs at the Cheyenne Y, teaching them the fundamentals of sports and sportsmanship.

• We have about 187 playing flag football this year, ages 3-12 years. Y sports include flag football, soccer, cheer, basketball, track and more.

• Currently, the Cheyenne Y relies on about 100 volunteer coaches, who are essential to helping us mentor and inspire young athletes. A number of our participants and coaches stay with the programs season after season, and sport after sport; providing stability to the programs and helping to refine and move athletes forward with the Y principles of inclusion, sportsmanship and creating a better program overall.

• The Y teaches the Y Way to Play, delivering our sports programs with a focus on 5 pillars: fun, sportsmanship, opportunity, progressive competition and community.

• The Y provides financial assistance to families that are experiencing financial difficulty. We believe all children deserve the opportunity to learn and grow through sports, and our donors are essential to helping us ensure our programs are equitable for kids in the Cheyenne community.

•The YMCA of Northern Colorado will provide around $2 million in financial assistance to families and individuals from Cheyenne down into the Front Range of Colorado.
