The dedicated firefighters from Newcastle International Airport Fire Service are preparing to take on a gruelling challenge in support of True Colours theatre, Its state-of-the-art performing arts school provides a safe space for its members to build confidence, develop friendships and express themselves creatively without the fear of being judged or discriminated against. In an extraordinary test of endurance and strength, the team will climb Scafell Pike—the highest mountain in England—while wearing their full fire kit and breathing apparatus.

This challenge is no small feat. Weighing around 25kg, the fire kit and breathing apparatus will make every step up the 978-metre peak even more demanding. However, the team is determined to push through, not only to test their own resilience but to raise vital funds and awareness for the important work True Colours theatre does in helping people express themselves through creativity.

Speaking about the challenge, a spokesperson from the Newcastle International Airport Fire Service said:

"As firefighters, we train for high-pressure situations, but this challenge will take us outside our usual environment and push us to new limits. We are proud to support True Colours Theatre and the incredible impact they have on young lives. This climb is about raising awareness and funds, but also about showing that we stand together in support of well-being and resilience."
