Richmond Marathon Fundraiser for Functional Neurological Disorder

Richmond Marathon 2023 · 10 September 2023 ·
I’m running the Richmond Marathon in the pursuit of raising funds for research and support into Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). This was to be a joint fundraiser with Leo, but unfortunately his knee has prevented him making it to the start line this time round!
This cause hits close to home, as it is one that our dear friend Ellie has been bravely battling for the last two years.
Since early 2022, Ellie has been living in hospital, paralysed from the neck down due to this complex and challenging disorder. Her strength, resilience, and spirit despite these circumstances has been astonishing, and a source of inspiration to us and everyone who knows her. We are determined to honour her fight by taking strides to make a difference and foster a greater understanding of FND.
FND is a medical condition in which there is a problem with the functioning of the nervous system and how the brain and body send and receive signals. It can manifest in a myriad of ways, with symptoms as debilitating as paralysis, and yet, it is a disorder that is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed.
Through this fundraiser, our goal is to not only raise much-needed funds for FND research, but also to raise awareness about this disorder, and the vital need for improved diagnostics, treatments, and patient support.
All funds raised will go directly to leading FND research and support organisations. Your generous donations will fund cutting-edge research, patient advocacy, and a range of supportive services for individuals and families affected by FND.
Your support, whether it's a donation or sharing this page with others, will make a huge impact.
Thank you,
Callum
