Our fantastic #TeamMDUK runners are taking on the TCS London Marathon 2027 to make every step count in the race to beat muscle-wasting conditions.

Story

I’m incredibly proud to be running the London Marathon in support of Muscular Dystrophy UK, a cause that has become deeply personal to me and my family.

A very close member of our family was recently diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a rare genetic condition that causes muscles to become progressively weaker over time. Since his diagnosis, we’ve learned so much about the challenges that children and families affected by Duchenne face every day, and it has made us realise just how important the work of Muscular Dystrophy UK truly is.

Although there have been incredible advances in research and treatment, there is currently no cure for Duchenne. Children living with the condition face increasing physical challenges as they grow, and families must adapt to a future they never expected. That’s why raising awareness, funding research, and ensuring families have access to the right support is so important.

I’m running not only for my family, but for every child and family affected by Duchenne. I hope that by taking on this challenge, I can help raise awareness of this condition and contribute towards a future where more effective treatments, and ultimately a cure, are possible.

Running 26.2 miles will be one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever taken on, but it is nothing compared to the strength and resilience shown by those living with Duchenne every single day.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help fund vital research, provide essential support for families, and bring hope to everyone affected by muscular dystrophy. Your generosity will mean so much to me, my family, and the many others whose lives have been touched by this condition.

Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and for helping me make every mile count.

Every mile I run will be for Reuben, for every child living with Duchenne, and for the hope that one day no family will have to face this devastating disease.

If you don’t already, please follow Reuben’s journey over on instagram and help raise awareness of DMD. https://www.instagram.com/reubensroadwithdmd?igsh=MW0ybWZxZjh0cWs4Mg==
