Story
In November, I’ll be taking on the biggest challenge of my life - Mount Kilimanjaro. I’m doing this in memory of my Grandad, who we sadly lost 5 years ago.
Standing at nearly 6000m, Kilimanjaro is the highest free standing mountain in the world and the highest mountain in Africa.
My main goal is to achieve something that 5 years ago I would have thought was impossible and also to raise as much awareness as I can for Parkinson’s and the charity I have chose, Parkinson’s UK.
My Grandad battled Parkinson’s for the final years of his life and even though he was fighting Parkinson’s and dementia day in and day out he never failed to make me or any of the family smile and brighten up our day.
Parkinson’s is a condition that affects so much more than people realise. Watching my Grandad go through it showed me just how tough, unpredictable, and relentless it can be. Not just for those diagnosed, but for the families who support them every day. Despite everything, he remained strong, and that’s something that has always inspired me.
This climb is my way of honouring him, remembering the incredible person he was and turning something difficult into something positive. It’s also a chance to help others who are currently facing the same battle we faced.
Training for this has already been a massive challenge and Kilimanjaro itself will push me so far out of my comfort zone both physically and mentally, but knowing the reason behind it will keep me going every step of the way.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will go a long way in making a real difference.
I have covered all of the costs for the climb and travel without any support/sponsorship money and therefore all funds raised will go directly to the charity!
If you’re able to donate or even just share this page, it would mean the world to me and my family. Thank you so much for your support ❤️
