Callum's Story:

As a scientist, I know what a difference research can make. ARUK's efforts to understand dementia will one day help us to beat a disease which touches so many lives. Both of my grandmothers, my Nan and my Gran, lost years of their lives to dementia. I saw first hand how the disease effected them personally, those around them, and the community as a whole. One in two lives will be touched by dementia, and as we all live longer, this number will only increase.

Research is helping to understand the initiation and progression of the disease, and is working towards a cure. The £500 I am planning to raise will fund 2 days of research, or a series of brain scans which researchers can use to follow the development of dementia in a patient, and look for ways to stop it in its tracks.

I've never run a half marathon before, and I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Rory's Story:

Both of the Grandparents I had the pleasure to know and love were affected by dementia or Alzheimer’s dementia, and I’ll never forget the unique sense of loss that this disease brings.

This will be the longest run I’ve ever done by some way and every donation will be extremely gratefully received and will help enormously to get us across the line!
