Story
In 2023, Jane, my wife, was diagnosed with myeloma, a blood cancer arising from plasma cells. In the UK, over 33,000 people are living with myeloma at any one time.
As a thank-you to the incredible research and support team at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford, on 28 June, with a little help from my friends, I’ll attempt “The Marmotte,” a legendary one-day ride climbing four Alpine cols: Glandon, Télégraphe, Galibier, and the 21 hairpins of Alpe d’Huez—177km with 5,500m of ascent. This is the equivalent of a Tour de France Queen Stage—the hardest and most demanding mountain stage of the race.
Compared to Jane’s journey, this should be a doddle. We’ll see!
After the support of the haematology team and following a stem cell transplant, Jane is now in remission.
If you can spare a few minutes and a few pounds, we’d be truly grateful.
