Calum's fundraiser for No Limits Sportsclub

Forth Ultramarathon · 20 April 2024
On 20 April 2024 I am running the Forth Ultra which is a 43 mile Ultra Marathon starting and finishing at the Helix Park. The route takes you across the Kincardine Bridge along the north coast of the River Forth to the Forth Road Bridge, then along the south side of the River Forth back to the Helix. My mate Chris is going to be running with me.
I am doing this to raise funds for the charity No Limits which was set up in 1996 to help promote sport for disabled children and young adults. They meet every Saturday at Linlithgow Leisure Centre where the members can participate in activities such as football, basketball, table tennis and many other sports.
They also organise adventure holidays for the kids and young people where they can experience other activities such as archery, canoeing and sailing. I met an ex colleague of mine, Paul who is the Club Secretary and he has been involved with the club for several years. I was impressed by what I saw when I met him at Linlithgow Leisure Centre and it was clear to me that the kids were enjoying themselves so I decided there and then that I would help them out as they rely on grants and charity donations to survive.
Unfortunately Paul’s daughter Vicky passed away in February, she was born disabled and wasn’t expected to live beyond childhood. She proved to be a fighter and with the help of her family and medical professionals she went on to live a happy life and participated in many sports activities as a member of the No Limits group.
This has given me the incentive, if one was needed, to raise as much money as I can for the charity.
