Story

My Connection to CentreStage

I was part of the musical theatre classes from the very first summer school in 2006 when I was 9 years old. I then volunteered for a year when I was 16 and then became a member of the cafe bar staff where I worked for 11 years. I am currently a member of the RockitMen.

Why I chose Tough Mudder

I've completed Tough Mudder twice before, so I know first-hand how challenging it can be. The combination of endurance, teamwork and overcoming obstacles makes it a unique experience, and each event pushes you in different ways. Taking part again gives me the opportunity to challenge myself physically and mentally while supporting a cause that means a great deal to me. Knowing I'm doing it for CentreStage will help keep me motivated when the course gets tough.

Why I wanted to raise money for CentreStage

CentreStage has been a huge part of my life for nearly two decades. When I decided to sign up for another Tough Mudder, there was never really any question about who I wanted to support. I wanted to use the challenge as an opportunity to give something back to an organisation that has played such an important role in my life and continues to make a difference for so many people in our community. Over the years I've been a participant, volunteer, employee and performer in CentreStage, making it much more than just a place I attend - it's somewhere that has helped shape who I am.

What CentreStage means to me and the local community

CentreStage is far more than a theatre or arts venue. For me, it's been a place where I've grown in confidence, developed skills, built lifelong friendships and found a real sense of belonging. Having been involved in so many different ways over the years, I've seen first-hand the positive impact it has on people of all ages and backgrounds. Across Ayrshire, CentreStage provides opportunities, support and connections that help bring communities together, and I'm proud to support an organisation that makes such a meaningful difference to so many lives.

Our vision is for a society where everyone can realise their potential and achieve their hopes and aspirations, regardless of their circumstances and background and our values of Hope, Inclusion and Aspiration, underpin all that we do. We create places where everyone is welcome, where everyone has their own story and everyone has the potential to grow.

From performing arts classes to creative, social and recreational groups for all ages, there is always something to get involved in. Live performance is always at the heart of CentreStage.
