Joe's Buddy Line Football Match - Monday 20th May 2024 · 20 May 2024

Set up in January 2021, Joe's Buddy Line Charity aim to promote and protect the mental health of young people, from primary school to university.

Story

Dear Friends,

After the inaugural Joe's Buddy Line Football Match at Selhurst Park in 2022 saw a 5-4 win for Team Kemp, and the 2023 iteration seeing an 8-7 thriller go the other way, we're back to do it all again on Monday 20th May 2024 at Brisbane Road, home of Leyton Orient FC.

We're getting together once more to remember our friend Joe Lyons, a talented radio producer, who at the time of his passing was a senior producer on the Capital FM Breakfast Show, working with his very close friend Roman Kemp. His passing came as an unbearable shock to all his friends and family.

Joe's Buddy Line was created as an uplifting and positive next chapter - a charity set up by Joes family to provide mental health workshops in schools, run by certified mental health professionals, and the provision of a range of mental health initiatives.

They're doing brilliant work and your donations are going to make a real difference. You can see more info here: https://joesbuddyline.org

If you've found yourself on this page it is because we'd love you to be involved in our football match remembering Joe, whether that be playing or as a friend / family member coming down on the day to watch and join our post match event.

Our itinerary will look like this:

6.30pm: Arrival For Players

6.50pm: Warm Up

7.15pm: Football Match Starts

9.00pm: Football Match Ends

9.15pm: Post Match Event (with food for the players) including a presentation from Joe's sister Lou to give us the latest on Joe's Buddy Line.

All costs for the event have been covered and we are hoping we can raise a significant total for the charity. Every penny donated or fundraised is going straight to the charity and whilst our suggested donation is £200, if that's a figure beyond what you can contribute, we of course understand.

Please note we are thrilled to once again say that Salesforce are match funding the first £5,000 raised.

To all playing, you're welcome to bring down friends and family on the day and we'd welcome that those joining make a suggested donation of £10pp.

For players taking part the event we'll have a memorable day - you'll get kit to team, video and photos of the game, some post match food and help us raise important funds.

Looking forward to seeing you on 20th May!
