Story

My younger sister, Bella, was born with Primary Lymphoedema. As her older brother, I grew up in a family where every day of Bella's early life was a fight for her survival.
As a Medical Doctor, my Mum's intellectual understanding of Bella's condition allowed her to combine experience with spirit. She ignored the voices of those who said that hope was lost, and - along with my Dad - showed my siblings and I how impossible odds can be overcome through persistence, sheer will and courage.
Twenty-four years later, Bella is not only alive, but thriving. After joining forces with me in pursuing our filmmaking dreams, she set up a social media channel with a goal to teach the internet how to edit. Her content caught fire soon after, and as of April 2026, she has an audience of more than one million followers, who tune in for daily insights about her life in the film industry, and beyond.
Despite the daily challenges of lymphoedema, Bella embodies that same spirit once channelled from my mum towards the voices of those who told her she should quit. I've seen her struggles first hand, and I've also seen her tireless work ethic, endless output and unbreakable will in spite of them. Lucky enough to live a life free of lymphoedema, Bella's resilience has been an inspiration for me to challenge what I think I can do, and discover the depths of what I can't.
In honour of her indefatigable nature, I'm running an ultra-marathon, on my own, through the streets of London. Faced with nothing but a pair of trainers, a bag of energy gels and 50+ kilometres of pavement beneath my feet, I hope to find out that the only thing holding me back in life is a quiet voice between my ears that's telling me I should quit.
If Bella's life is anything to go by, that might just be the start of the long road ahead.
