Couch to 500K: Cambrian Way in 10 days

Becky Hodgson is raising money for Jerry Green Dog Rescue

Cambrian Way Attempt · 12 September 2026

Jerry Green Dog Rescue operates three rehoming centres across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. We also operate a community support scheme in East Yorkshire. JGDR works hard to rescue, care for and rehome stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs, and help them find their forever homes.

Story

In September I'm aiming to run the Cambrian Way in 10 days.

The Cambrian Way is a tough 298-mile (479 km) coast-to-coast hiking trail traversing the mountainous spine of Wales, from Cardiff Castle to Conwy Castle. It traverses wild, remote terrain and features about 74,000 feet of ascent, crossing the Brecon Beacons, Cambrian Mountains, and Snowdonia.

This averages out to an ultramarathon a day, every day, for 10 days, over the highest mountains in Wales.

This is not part of an organised event and I will be running and navigating solo. My back-up gang (my partner and our 2 rescue dogs) will be supporting from our van where possible- but as the route is so remote, I'll be alone for most of each day.

Event updates and feet pics will be on my Instagram: bogbottom_and_the_ditchbitch

I'll be running for Jerry Green dog rescue. I've been volunteering for them for over 2 years and have seen firsthand the incredible work they do to save as many lives as possible.

About Jerry Green:

For more than 60 years, since Jerry Green founded the charity back in 1961, we have been transforming the lives of abandoned and unwanted dogs by providing shelter and finding them loving homes.

The caring, ‘dog-centric’ ethos at Jerry Green Dog Rescue means we continue to put dogs at the heart of everything we do. There are too few homes for too many dogs, so we’re always looking at ways to ensure our dogs have the best quality of life while they are staying with us and we try to find their perfect match.
