Story
Three years ago my amazing mum died after an awful struggle with Alzheimer’s.
In her memory, and to support the largest UK charity funding Alzheimer’s research and offering support for the thousands of families going through what we did, four friends and I are once again walking 26 miles, this time in the Peak District, on the 27th June this year.
These friends, whom I met when our now 12 year old boys were babies, have been the most incredible support throughout the best and the toughest years of my life.
My mum loved wild places and walking so much, so this still seems the perfect way to remember her through something positive and wonderful, after Alzheimer’s took so much from her and from us all.
It is thought that dementia in some form will affect 1 in 3 of us in the future, with Alzheimer’s the most prevalent form, so research is vital to try and find ways to slow this awful disease.
If you feel able to donate it is hugely appreciated.
