Story
I am swimming 10km UP the the tempestuous Afon Mawddach on October 10th 2025. That's 10,000 m in cold, choppy water with winds, the season and the tide meeting rivers running off Snowden.
Whilst doing this I am raising money so children with disabilities can enjoy the water as much as I do.
The lessons cost £15 each and are 4 x oversubscribed with kids waiting for this life enhancing opportunity.
Please support me in this EPIC challenge by donating.
Level Water use the power of swimming to improve lives for children by developing strength and confidence in a way that is fun and socially inclusive.
THANK YOU to all of you. That is 10 lessons paid for. Brilliant. X
After 24 hours I have exceeded my target. Let's see if it x
can be doubled to 20 lessons💪.
This will be my 5th swimming event this year. It will also be my hardest challenge. I have never swum 10km and the cold on your face can be excruciating. I have wonderful goggles that cover my brow where most cold receptors are. However, keeping goggles dry and clear is a challenge in itself.
The thought of all those loved lessons will keep me going. Below is a short video of how Level Water changes lives. X
48 hours and 20 lessons! Lets try for 30!
Friday 3rd. I week to go.
This is amazing. 32 lessons! I am so grateful. I'll raise the target by another 4 lessons. Your supportive comments are treasured.
I swam 6km today in the pool and plan a choppy outdoor swim.on Sunday.
I am slow but hopefully will get through the first 1-2 km of turbulence and then stay warm enough to be swept up stream
I have loads of neopren but need to try latex gloves under my swim gloves a layers of cut off tightsunder my shoes for added warmth.

Sunday 5th
Just had a final outdoor swim up at Gaddings. After storm Amy I was hoping to experience alot of choppy water. It wasn't too bad and only got wilder as I finished.
I think I am OK for warmth, choppiness and distance. I shall have to hope the current wisks me upriver before the tide turns.
With gift aid and your support we have raised nearly 50 lessons. This is incredible and probably enough for I deserving person to have individualised swimming lessons for a year. Awesome.
Thank you, Thank you. X
Tuesday 7th. Harvest moon. 3 days to go.
WE HAVE RAISED SOOO MUCH! Thank you, thank you, thank you.😘
Weather looks good for the swim 🏊♂️ !
The nIght before the swim.
Got my swim pack and spent an hour watching the safety boats being set up on the beach.
Lots of excited fellow swimmers with their bright green hats and white envelopes containing timing chip etc.
The river is HUGE. But not too much wind or chop.
POST SWIM
The weather was perfect. Not as cold or choppy as previous years and the Harvest moon provided a really fast and high tide.
Only 400 of us as it is a relatively new swim and it was a Friday.
We set off at a right angle across the bay until the current caught us and whizzed us up river.
If I stopped swimming the bank was flying past. Glorious scenery.
Before I knew it the end was in sight. Hot chocolate and jelly babies awaited.
Thank you all again for your support, and Level Water is very grateful for your donations. We are on
66 YES 66 lessons.
Awesome.

I forgot to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the anonymous donors who I couldn't thank individually.
