Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Story

In 2022, we lost our wonderful father and grandfather Roy Nelson. In the last few weeks of his life with cancer, Marie Curie's care meant he was able to stay at home and remain as comfortable as possible - a privilege we feel everybody should have access to. Roy was cared for by the wonderful nurses at Marie Curie - North & West Highlands and Islands who stayed with him overnight, allowing Roy's wife Kathleen (our Mum and Nana) to be able to rest.

We are raising money so that anyone in a similar situation can continue to have access to the amazing care and services Marie Curie are able to provide for those in need.

To raise money we are walking 250km over 13 days from Porto to Santiago de Compostela along the Camino. 5 of us will be taking part: Rod and Susie Nelson, two of Roy's three children, Sue's husband David Ashlee, Sue's son Michael and his partner Charlotte.

And we push for a better end of life for all by campaigning and sharing research to change the system.

Marie Curie is a charity working across the UK and we need your support to do our vital work.
