The Campbell family taking on the Malvern Hills end to end for the Village Africa New Ambulance Appeal · 14 February 2026

Village Africa is a UK-registered charity funding work in Tanzania, East Africa in a village called Yamba, high in the Usambara Mountains in the Tanga region. We aim to alleviate poverty and improve the health and education of the villagers.

Story

On Saturday 14th February 2026, the Campbell family, which consists of Primrose (9 years old), Dylan (8 years old), Sean and Jenny are going to walk the Malvern Hills end to end trail. This trail follows the top of the Malvern ridge, starting at the south from Chase End to North Hill taking in the main summits along the way. This trail is 9.3 miles long and will be physically challenging due to its terrain.

We are doing this fundraising challenge to raise money towards the Village Africa New Ambulance Appeal. Village Africa is a UK-registered charity funding work in Tanzania (East Africa) in a village called Yamba which is located high up in the West Usambara mountains in the Tanga region. The charity works in health and education and its aim is to alleviate poverty.

Village Africa is in need of a new ambulance as the current vehicle has been on the road for 10 years and the maintenance costs are very high, and this can also take time to repair and therefore be out of action. The ambulance is a vital service which provides emergency trips day and night, 365 days of the year, free of charge. The ambulance Village Africa is hoping to buy is a 4x4 vehicle due to the very rough terrain and is driven by highly skilled drivers to deal with these challenging conditions.

.

Without the ambulance it is a five hour walk to the nearest bus, and patients would have to be carried on a stretcher as there are no taxis and the villagers do not have cars.

I (Sean) volunteered as a builder for Village Africa for 11 weeks near the start of 2012 and have seen just how valuable and important this ambulance service is and how a new ambulance is going to make such a big difference for the communities it serves.

I please ask you to consider donating towards this challenge, which will then be added by the charity to the overall New Ambulance Appeal, which has currently raised a fantastic £30,266 which is 35% of the £85,000 target. We appreciate every donation and thank you for taking the time to read our story.

Thanks,

Sean, Jenny, Primrose and Dylan
