Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge · 20 June 2025

Success for us is 100% of leavers sustaining their independence setting of choice. That success looks different to each student – for some it is to have the financial security of paid, independent work, whereas for others it may be the communication skills to have control over their daily life, and to let people know when the quality of their care isn’t sufficient. We achieve this by providing a bespoke curriculum to each of our students. This starts with an individualised admissions & transition process Our personalised curriculum sits within three pathways: • Communication – supporting the student to have a voice, make choice and be as independent as possible • Independence – supporting the student to keep themselves safe in an independent / supported living environment, to access the community (including employment, volunteering and further learning) and to make positive choices about their future engagement with society • Employability – supporting the student to understand the workplace and build a toolbox of effective work practices to ensure they can successfully navigate and sustain work in their vocation of choice

Story

We're raising funds to help Camphill Wakefield redevelop areas of their college to enrich, expand and continue to support the learning experiences for their students.

Who is Camphill Wakefield?

Camphill Wakefield is a specialist college for young people with special educational needs and disabilities. They're a safe, caring, enjoyable place for people to build the skills to become more independent for the rest of their lives. The services they provide include:

- Post-16 education, including enterprise and career opportunities.

- Day services (meaningful independence activity after leaving education).

My names Emily and I love Camphill and I do handcraft, weaving and independent living skills and I love it here - Emily

The students, volunteers, and staff are the heart of Camphill Wakefield. In their carefully designed, inclusive community, they provide enriching learning opportunities, aligned to real work environments, as well as therapeutic care, and the support for every student to live an independent life, in which they can achieve their aspirations.

It's fun and staff can help you whenever you need help - George

Valuing and celebrating diversity, Camphill Wakefield are committed to the advancement of equality and inclusion. Working within their community, they're dedicated to the safety and comfort of others, accepting everyone and supporting their students to feel empowered and independent.

I love it here because I like feeding animals like ducks, Trudy the pig and collecting eggs from farm chickens - Lily
