Story
It’s soon September again and with it brings the Great North Run in Newcastle.
It’s an awesome event and the Geordie’s are terrific at cheerleading. For anyone who has never been, the entire city turns out for this event and it’s one huge celebration of achievement - but this isn’t why I go.
I attempt this event because September brings for me the tidal waves of grief associated with losing Lee and truth be told, the heartbreak drives me insane. Insane enough to run half marathons with broken knees and pain in my heart.
But to head back to Lee’s place of residence when we first met and to raise some money for JOCA, our rugby community charity built specifically with the intention of helping each other out when they’re struggling so others won’t suffer this loss? Yes, I’ll run.
I’ll run to destigmatize mental health, create awareness and to help save lives by making space for difficult conversations without prejudice and in confidentiality.
So please sponsor me to help JOCA support our friends and family in times of need because like this donation, they’re just One Click Away.

Running in memory of the much loved Lee James Scott.
