Candyce & Scott’s fundraiser for Friends of Serenity

Candyce Cross is raising money for Friends of Serenity
In memory of Noah Michael Cross

North Yorks Ultra Challenge 2026 · 20 June 2026 to 21 June 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Friends of Serenity aims to preserve and protect the health of sick pregnant women and those who have suffered a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death in particular but not exclusively by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities, Serenity Suites and equipment at East Lancashire Women and New Born Centre not normally provided by the statutory authorities. We work hard to support newly bereaved parents through the provision of memory boxes and miscarriage keepsakes. By dressing their babies we hope to make distressing and devastating time a little more comforting by taking the pressure off them. These are provided in East Lancashire and throughout the country on public requirement. Additionally, we strive to provide qualified information by any means appropriate on the 2nd most common chromosome disorder Trisomy 13.

Story

Hello! Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

As many of you will know, we lost our baby boy, Noah 20-02-2023 and almost lost my own life in the process. Losing Noah was incredibly difficult for us, and big brother Arlo too. It completely changed our life as we knew it.

Unfortunately the last 3 years have been really challenging to say the least, with a further 4 losses following and adding to our already grief ridden hearts.

Needless to say, we haven’t spent much of the last few years doing the things we love as it completely takes over every aspect of your life, making it incredibly difficult to plan ahead.

With this said we want this year to be focused on getting back to doing those things we love more often - one of them being running.

So… I have foolishly signed Scott and myself up for a 50km ultra running challenge in June! The distance won’t be so much of challenge for Scott who has spent most of his adult life running silly distances, but he will be challenged to slow his pace riiiight down to support me (and listen to me for however many hours it takes!)

Of course we couldn’t take on such a challenge without using it as an opportunity to fundraise for a wonderful charity so close to our hearts - Friends of Serenity. The work they do to support bereaved families through baby loss is amazing. From memory boxes, which are often all the family is left with to remember their baby - to erecting the amazing Tree of Life at Lancashire Women’s and newborn centre to remember all the babies gone too soon and many other things in between. Please take a look at the amazing work they do.

As painful as this challenge and all the training will be, nothing will ever compare to the pain of losing a child.

Thank you for reading!
