Capsticks Manchester Charity of the Year - The Clink

We deliver City and Guilds training to prisoners in our restaurants and gardens inside prison. They gain the qualifications and a real life work experience to make them job ready. Upon release we meet them at the gate and help them find employment and accommodation which reduces re-offending rates.

Story

Capsticks Manchester Office Charity of the Year is The Clink. We aim to raise as much money throughout the year to support this fabulous charity.

The Clink's motto is "Changing attitudes, transforming lives and creating second chances".

The students at each of The Clink training projects train whilst working towards gaining their City & Guilds National Vocational Qualifications. Simulating a professional working environment, people in prison with 3 – 24 months of their sentence left to serve volunteer for the programme, going through full-time training in order to reach the required level to succeed in their respective industry.

The Clink provides an opportunity to gain new skills and qualifications in catering and horticulture. They then support the students and Clink graduates to help them secure accommodation upon release. This offers them a real chance to return to the community with the ability to turn their lives around which will cut crime and improve public safety.

In 2023, The Clink trained 830 students in prisons around the UK, delivered around 550 NVQ qualifications and placed 52% of our students into employment.
