Story
On Sunday 11th October 2026, I will be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Royal Parks Half Marathon for a special cause. Yelp, a whole 13.1miles! Now I may enjoy running...most of the time but not particularly in the cold or rain which in this country is more often then not. This is definitely going to be a challenge and a half for me. I have wrestled with doing it but I thought hey, you only live once, so why not push yourself outside your comfort zone. But most importantly I will be doing it to raise money for a great cause that has real meaning to me and my family, the National Autistic Society.
Three of my children are Autistic and they face many challenges daily navigating a world that is not very accessible for them. They have come up and continue to come up against so many hurdles. From daily struggles with communication and social interaction, the need for routine, meltdowns, specific food requirements, sensory overstimulation, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) anxiety... but more shockingly they have struggled to access some of their most basic human rights; healthcare and education. Along the way we have supported them, fought for them, advocated for them, and will continue to throughout their childhood/adulthood. We strive to be their voice when they can not be heard, a shoulder to lean on, their strength in the storm, we endeavour to empower them and to help them to achieve the most out of their lives.
We need amazing charities like the National Autistic Society who help support autistic people and their families in the UK by providing a range of services, campaigning for rights, and working to change public attitudes. These services are invaluable, and a lifeline to autistic people and their families alike. Please help support this charity and in turn give me a boost to help me achieve my goal.
Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference.
