Story
This November, I’m taking on a challenge to walk 100km to raise money for The Baby Bar in Wallingford, a wonderful organisation that helps mums and babies navigate their feeding journey. This cause is incredibly close to my heart because of our own experience, and I’d love to share our story with you.
When Faye was born, I had no idea the feeding journey would be such a struggle. For the first few weeks, we faced challenge after challenge. Faye was experiencing feeding difficulties, and as a new mum, I felt overwhelmed, exhausted, and worried. We saw midwives, GPs, pediatricians, and the advanced feeding team, but no one could quite figure out what was wrong. Despite our efforts, Faye continued to not put on weight.
Once we found the Baby Bar the infant feeding specialists there quickly identified that Faye had both undiagnosed thrush and a tongue tie—issues that had previously been missed. Thanks to their expertise, Faye received the care she needed, and we were able to continue our breastfeeding journey.
More than just medical support, they offered us a warm, welcoming environment with endless cups of tea, delicious cake, and a much-needed shoulder to lean on.
The Baby Bar is more than just a place for feeding advice. It’s a haven for mums who need support, understanding, and guidance. Whether you're struggling with latch issues, need help with pumping, or just want to talk to someone who truly understands, the team at The Baby Bar is always there. They provide professional guidance on feeding and help with issues like tongue tie, but they also offer something that many mums desperately need—empathy, patience, and a place to feel safe.
What makes The Baby Bar so special is that they operate entirely on donations. They don’t have large funding sources, and they rely on the generosity of people like you.
