Story

Hi, I’m Caragh, part of the Mid & North Hampshire DBT Team. This year we were proud to be named Team of the Year by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Healthcare Trust!

On Saturday 27th September 2025, we’re hosting the Lives Worth Living Run/Walk to raise funds for DBT – a vital therapy helping people living with severe emotional distress to build “a life worth living.”

Our event is co-hosted with Brighterway Charity, who crucially support NHS mental health services across Hampshire & the Isle of Wight.

_____________

WHAT IS DBT?

DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan, is an intensive year-long programme that combines skills groups, individual therapy, and coaching. DBT supports people who often live with severe emotional distress and stigma.

It was first designed for Borderline Personality Disorder, but now helps with a wide range of mental health challenges. DBT helps people build “a life worth living,” and we feel privileged to walk alongside them.

_____________

WHY IT MATTERS

Your support means more people can access DBT, reduce stigma, and find hope, connection, and pride in recovery - to discover their own “life worth living.”

I’ve seen how powerful it can be when someone begins to believe their life can be different. For many, that first step is the hardest - and often it’s about finding connection, hope, and the sense that they are not alone.

My hope is that this shared challenge unites DBT staff and those who’ve been through the programme in something positive and life-affirming.
