Careline Home Support's fundraiser for Glasgow Care Foundation Christmas 2025

Careline Home Support is raising money for Glasgow Care Foundation
We are one of Glasgow's oldest Charities, established in 1874 before the NHS and Welfare State, sadly our aim of alleviating poverty in the City is still the same. People are referred to us from agencies working with vulnerable people. We support some of the poorest individuals and families who cannot get help from any other source. We do not receive funding from any local or national government. The money we need to help those in need comes from capital investments made in earlier years, bequests, legacies, and donations. We often describe ourselves as the 'Small charity doing big things for Glasgow'. Our support is normally basic items such as cookers, washing machines, beds, furniture and flooring. Within one week we can be delivering items to a family that make an immediate impact on their personal situation. We also support families with supermarket vouchers to buy food as this is an ever-increasing plight for a lot of people. At Christmas we provide Vouchers and Gifts to those most in need for Christmas morning. There are 37,000 children living in poverty in Glasgow today. We also process around 15 community grants annually to benefit the wider community with projects, educational grants, transport, and other needs. If you or your company are looking for a Charity of the Year or doing some fundraising activities, we would appreciate you keeping us in mind as a potential beneficiary and we would welcome a conversation with you.

Story

Careline Home Support is proud to be raising funds for Glasgow Care Foundation this Christmas.

We understand how important it is to support individuals and families within our community - not just through the care we provide, but by standing behind organisations that make a real difference. That’s why we’re proud to be raising funds for Glasgow Care Foundation, one of Glasgow’s oldest and most dedicated charities.

Glasgow Care Foundation, founded in 1874, is dedicated to helping individuals and families in need and has been providing vital assistance to people in need across the city for over 150 years. Their mission is simple yet powerful: "A Helping Hand, Not a Hand Out." They support individuals and families facing hardship by providing essential household items such as beds, cookers, flooring, and bedding, as well as supermarket vouchers for those experiencing food poverty.

This Christmas, Glasgow Care Foundation will use all donations to provide Asda gift cards to families living in poverty. These gift cards allow parents to buy what their children have asked for from Santa, as well as some food for their Christmas dinner, giving families more dignity of choice while ensuring they can enjoy a joyful holiday.

What makes this charity truly special is that every penny raised goes directly to those who need it most. The Board of Trustees volunteer their time, ensuring donations are used to make a real impact in people’s lives. By donating, you’ll be helping Glasgow Care Foundation bring warmth, dignity, and hope to vulnerable families in Glasgow this festive season. Every contribution, big or small, helps change lives.

About Careline Home Support

Founded in 1995 by James and Carol Imrie, Careline Home Support began with a simple mission: to provide the kind of care they would want for their own loved ones. Carol, a registered nurse since the 1980s, has always been dedicated to helping people, while James brought experience from his successful family business in the fruit and vegetable trade. Together, they combined their skills and passion to make a real difference in their community.

Originally operating as a franchise under Community Careline Services, supporting clients across Glasgow’s South Side, they eventually felt constrained by the structure of a larger organisation. Ten years later, they made the bold decision to become fully independent. This allowed them to build a service centred around what truly matters - putting people first and promoting independent living.

For over 30 years, Carol and James have nurtured Careline on strong family values. Today, with their son joining the team, those values are stronger than ever. As the company grows across central Scotland, one principle remains unchanged: a commitment to care that is personal, reliable, and genuinely heartfelt.

From our family to yours, we’re here when you need us most.
