Story

***Intro***

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page. My Grandmother suffered from Parkinson’s disease for many years and unfortunately my Auntie Val was diagnosed several years ago also and continues to bravely battle this awful disease.

***The Challenge***

A team of four of use comprising of members of the CPS and Balfour Beatty team a running the 2024 Great North Run, which is a half marathon.

There are many physical and mental challenges that we will have to overcome to complete this distance with varying running abilities within the team.

***The Condition***

Parkinson's disease is a condition that affects the brain and causes movement problems, such as tremor, stiffness and slowness. It's caused by a loss of nerve cells that produce dopamine, a chemical that regulates movement, it is very debilitating and causes much suffering. However, my Auntie really has worked very hard to live her life to the full whilst battling the disease and continue to do so, but it is not easy.
