27 CONSECUTIVE SUMMITS OF PEN-Y-FAN, IN MEMORY OF MY NAN!!!
PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO READ MY STORY BELOW, THANK YOU!!!!
After a two year battle with Pancreatic Cancer, my amazing, courageous brave Nan, Brenda Alice Thompson is now at rest.
Bravely fighting this awful disease head on every step of the way, nan took a turn for the worst over night and was admitted into Hospital for emergency care.
From the moment my nan entered the hospital, the staff were amazing. Over worked, under staffed and under paid the NHS went above and beyond, they could not do enough for my nan.
But unfortunately, they can't create miracles. My nan was admitted to Katherine House hospice where she received end of life care.
Nan stayed at Katherine House Hospice in Banbury for over 2 weeks, she received around the clock care from the kindest and most compassionate of staff members. No job or request was too much.
As hard as it is to type this, and as much as it hurts, My nan received the best possible care in the most beautiful and peaceful of venues right up until she took her last breath at 0612 hrs on March 20th 2025.
Katherine House has a large team, but only has 12 rooms for residents, allowing them to provide the best care possible. It costs around £15,000 a day for the hospice to care for its patients, that's over £100,000 a week, over £5.3 million a year with only a third of it's funding coming from the NHS.
To continue to provide the care they do, they are required to raise £14,500 a day.
So for other families to receive the care that my nan did I am raising as much money as possible for the Hospice.
With my Nan being a proud Welsh girl from the Valleys, I am going to summit the tallest mountain in south Wales 'Pen-Y-Fan' (886m) Not once... but 27 times, consecutively. 1 summit representing 1 day nan was in care. Starting on the 1st of November 2025.
If you can, Please, Please share my page /story and please donate anything you can. The hospice, myself and my family really would be grateful for every penny donated.
Thank you x
