Four years ago, my family's world was shattered.

Sitting in a hospital room at the very start of the Covid pandemic, my husband and I heard the words no parent would ever want to hear. Our youngest, two year old son—who seemed healthy in every way, except for a sudden unexplained limp—was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of childhood cancer.

Our hearts shattered into a million pieces, and yet at the same time, amidst the fear and heartbreak, we also found a strength as a family we never knew we had. Step by step, we walked the hardest road of our lives alongside the extraordinary team at The Royal Marsden. For two years, they gave us personalised medical care, unwavering support, compassion, and hope all along the way.

Today, thanks to the innovative treatment received at The Royal Marsden, our son is cancer-free. He is the liveliest, most energetic, endlessly curious, and cheekiest little boy you could ever meet!

And now, it is my turn. With immense gratitude, I’m lacing up my running shoes to give back to The Royal Marsden, so they can continue providing groundbreaking research and life-saving treatments for cancer patients.

On the 23rd of March I’ll be running the Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon for every family who walks through The Marsden’s doors, facing what feels to be an insurmountable journey. A journey that can only be walked one step at a time, trusting that the path will appear as you walk it.
