The award-winning Deaf Academy is a unique UK charity, offering specialist teaching, support and care. They specialise in supporting Deaf children and young people who also have multiple or complex additional needs, including multi-sensory impairment, autism and physical disabilities. The Deaf Academy is a fantastic place for young people to learn, develop and be part of a diverse Deaf multilingual community.  Their aim is to develop empowered, confident young people who are equipped to embark into adulthood with aspiration, skills and resilience.

Founded in Exeter in 1826, the Academy moved to its state-of-the-art home in Exmouth in 2020. This year the charity marks its 200th anniversary, as the oldest Deaf school in England. Celebrations include Deaf-led cultural and awareness raising events, plus fundraising goals focused on helping Deaf young people to overcome barriers and thrive in a world that’s not designed for them.

As our charity of the year, Team Princesshay wish to raise both awareness and funds for the Deaf Academy. We'll be taking on the challenge of a Team combined 200k walk from Exeter to Exmouth in celebration of their bicentenary year on 14th September 2026 - come rain or shine!
