Story
I used to hate running and some days I still do.
But then I met Geoffrey...
Geoffrey came into my life from Garbos German Shepherd Rescue after he was found as a stray at 18 months old. I’ll never truly know what he went through before we met, but I know exactly how much he has impacted my life.
The last two years have been tough. Between navigating an exceptionally challenging time and managing the noise of a brain that I’m only just beginning to understand, there are days when the weight of it all feels impossible to carry. But running with Geoffrey became my outlet—the one place where I could quieten the noise, process the anxiety, and channel the sadness.
Despite his past, Geoffrey is the happiest dog I know. He literally loves life and finds joy in every single mile. He went from a stray on the streets to my marathon training partner and my emotional support. He never says no to a run (even when I surprise him with an impromptu half marathon!) and always senses when I’m low, giving me that knowing nudge to comfort me.
They say we rescue dogs, but sometimes we need saving just as much as the dog.
I’m running the London Marathon to raise money for Garbos, the charity that gave me my Geoffrey.
Every donation helps them give more dogs like him a second chance at life.
