Story

“Takin’ it to the Streets” Fundraising Campaign

I’m on a quest to run ‘every single street’ in Toronto and raise a ‘dollar a street’ for Community Music Schools of Toronto. With a total of 10,390 streets in the city, my goal is to raise $10,390. I’m aiming to complete 100% of the streets by June 2025.

Community Music Schools of Toronto (CMST) is a music school that gives young people aged 4-18 from low-income families living in high-risk neighbourhoods a quality music education, instruments and once-in-a-lifetime performance opportunities in a safe, creative environment where they can thrive. Founded in 1999, the school has grown from 71 students to now reach over 800 students across the city, offering after-school, weekend and Summer Camp music programs.

When I was five years old my parents offered to provide me with music lessons on an instrument of my choosing. I decided to go big and settled on the piano. Shortly thereafter my father proceeded to cut a hole in our basement wall to make way for an old upright he had rescued. The piano lessons proved to be consequential, igniting my lifelong passion for music.

Running the streets of Toronto in support of The Community Music Schools of Toronto is a tangible way of giving back to my community by providing kids and families with the opportunity to enrich their lives and future prospects through music.
