Story
Sullivan’s Heroes is a charity offering support and financial assistance for families raising essential funds for vital home adaptations for a disabled child, to continue to care for their child at home, safely and with dignity.
Taos (Tay) is a wonderful boy with many complex needs requiring much support in many aspects of his life. Tay was first diagnosed as being Severely Autistic under 3 years of age. Tay has many disabilities and severe behavioural issues as well as seizures and the latest of which being a diagnosis via GOSH for Severe Intellectual Disability. Whilst Tay is non-verbal and therefore cannot communicate his needs, his desire to live a fulfilled life and his achievements are outstanding. I have flown Tay out of the country for therapies which has been an amazing journey. Tay has learnt many new skills and continues to amaze everyone with his continued dedication to exceed everyones’ expectations. These achievements, however, do not come without exhaustion and struggles in my caring role. My passion is being a mum, carer and part time worker and helping my son to achieve in life.
Tay has been approved for a Disabled Facilities Grant by the LA and OT for a Wetroom. This Wetroom will help with promoting his independence, learning skills and less falls from his current bathroom and generally being a safer environment for him.
Thank you reading Tay’s story.
