Cardiff Half Marathon 2025 · 5 October 2025 ·

1 in 5 children in the UK are affected by their parents' alcohol problems. They are often frightened and isolated, with no one to turn to for help. Nacoa responds by providing a free, confidential telephone, 1-2-1 chat and email helpline.

Story

Let's GO!! Yes! It's my 3rd half marathon this year after NEVER running properly before! Check out my other LLHM page for my previous journey. I'm now 46.2 kms down in marathons, 3000km in training, 5 Stone lighter, probably 300 energy gels consumed and I've lost both my big toe nails but who cares??!! I'm doing it again. This time I'm also delighted to be sponsored by Omega Life, ran by Alex Aresti, who didn't think twice about supporting us.

Why? Because of these guys and what they do....

Nacoa (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics) is a Bristol based charity founded in 1990 to provide help and support for everyone affected by a parent’s drinking.

We believe that every child has the right to a happy childhood and to live a creative and meaningful life but when drink is the family secret they are more likely to experience family violence, neglect and other problems in their own homes.

Every time I hear another story, description, see another person cry, break their heart because their parent drinks, or died - I want to do something. I can help them professionally yes - but I can do more.

So I've done Nacoas volunteer training the last few months, and I'm doing another half marathon in Cardiff this time.....it's just another run right? It's just a long one.... :-D
