I am doing a tough mudder with two friends who I met in the NICU to raise money for The Early Birth Association because they helped us when our babies were born prematurely.

In December 2021, I unexpectedly gave birth to my baby boy 10 weeks before my due date. He weighed just 3lb7oz and needed the help of the Trevor Mann Baby Unit and Special Care Baby Unit at PRH to feed and grow for the first 5 weeks of his life. Nothing can quite prepare you for leaving your newborn baby every night, but he was most definitely in the best possible hands.

The Early Birth Association is a registered charity run by volunteer parents and family members of babies who have spent time in the TMBU and SCBU. They make a positive difference for babies and families as well as the staff teams who work on the units by providing a wide variety of help and support. This ranges from providing practical items for the babies and parents on the units to make their hospital stay more homely and comfortable, to funding vital life saving equipment and research.
