Carmela has been under the care of Julia’s House Children’s Hospice since she was just 3 years old.

As a family raising a child with life-limiting conditions, life can bring overwhelming anxiety, stress, and financial pressure, especially when only one parent is able to provide financially for the family. Julia’s House has truly been a lifeline for us.

Not only have they provided incredible care and support for Carmela, but they have also given us, as parents, precious moments to breathe, gather our thoughts, and spend a little time together knowing Carmela was safe in expert hands. Those few hours of respite when she was younger meant more than words can ever explain.

Now aged 12, Carmela has sadly developed further health conditions. In the summer of 2024, we nearly lost her following a cardiac arrest. She now lives with an implanted defibrillator to help keep her safe, alongside liver disease and the ongoing challenges of Muscular Dystrophy. Having the trusted support and care of Julia’s House brings enormous peace of mind to our family.

Carmela has always had the biggest heart and loves helping others. She started fundraising for Julia’s House when she was only 4 years old, wanting to give something back to the people who have cared so deeply for her.

Julia’s House provides frequent, flexible care for children with life-limited or life-threatening conditions to give their parents a much-needed break.
