Well I must be bonkers to set myself this very ambitious goal! Having not cycled since 2021 I thought it would be an epic challenge to give myself 3 months to train and then cycle 500km or 309 miles on a bike I don’t yet have! But when life gives you stage 4 cervical cancer with an unknown life expectancy everything seems so urgent & giving back so important. I plan to raise as much money as possible for cancer charities, whilst I am alive & kicking, and really push myself out of my comfort zone… quite literally!

The Eve Appeal are a charity focused on gynae cancers. Gynae cancers receive very little funding or grants because they impact only women & a smaller percentage of the population than other cancers. Approximately 3,500 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year in the UK and there are currently no advanced active clinical trials. The Eve Appeal invest crucial funds into gynae cancer research, which is why I’m cycling for them.

My Back story: In February 2023 I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. April/May I underwent treatment with presumed cure. August I discovered it had spread to my lung. NYE December 2023 I underwent surgery to remove a cancerous section of my lung. April 2024 I discovered it had returned and spread to my right lung and lymph node. BUT I am determined & optimistic & would love to show cancer who’s the Boss!
