I was recently contacted by an organisation about a fundraising challenge they are running for The Ben Parker Trust Fund ('Ben's Den') — a charity that supports children with cancer and the families who are suddenly navigating the most frightening time of their lives. Ben's Den helps provide practical support, care and comfort at a time that no family should have to face alone.
The Ben Parker Trust Fund was established in memory of Ben Parker, who passed away from leukaemia at the age of 10. The charity aims to support families facing similar challenges by offering them a chance to take a break from the hospital environment and enjoy quality time together.
After seeing videos on social media of the sort of daft nonsense I get up to, I was asked if I’d take part in their ‘Gunge Challenge’ to help raise funds.
After some serious consideration (and questioning of my life choices), I said yes, as it felt like a small, silly thing I could do to support a charity doing something genuinely life-changing.
So….welcome to Carol’s ‘Gungeraiser’!
How it works:
🪣 Every £50 raised online unlocks one bucket of gunge. (I’ve capped this now I’ve surpassed 15 buckets, as I don’t want to drown!!)
Donate any amount — every pound brings us closer to the next bucket and helps Ben's Den continue their vital work.
🥧 On the day, £5 (cash) also buys a pie to the face, for anyone who feels especially generous (or evil!)
I’ll be doing the ‘Gungeraiser’ on Sunday 29th March - there will be videos of the event, as evidence that I’ve actually gone through with it!!
