Welcome to the Wonderful World of Showerbox - the charity empowering those affected by homelessness, one shower at a time.

Every week, their volunteer team provides free and secure shower space for those facing homelessness in the belief that everyone deserves to feel clean and dignified. They are committed to providing ShowerBox guests with the support they need to look after themselves.

As someone who's spent a few days getting skanky at various music festivals and thoroughly appreciating the chance to get clean again afterwards, I can only imagine how dehumanising it is to not have access to simple hygiene opportunities. I am in awe of the work of this charity!

And that's why I'm fundraising for them.

As a 50-something post-menopausal woman, I got it into my head that it would be fun to run the London Marathon. "Fun" is a debatable concept when, like me, you're overweight and not a natural runner. The training is hard and I expect the 26 miles/42km will be harder. I'd be delighted if you made this worthwhile by making a big juicy donation.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying the sunshine and the chance to get outdoors.
