We, as a family of 4. will be taking part in The Race to the Stones ultramarathon raising funds for The Barnaby Webber Foundation. RTTS is a 50km ultramarathon along the Ridgeway, Oxfordshire, organised by the Threshold Trail Series. We compete on 11th July 2026.
The Barnaby Webber Foundation was set up following the brutal murder of Barney in Nottingham in June 2023. I am a Trustee of the Foundation.
Albert and I are very unlikely ultramarathon competitors, having both been extremely obese. Barney’s death in June 2023 made us realise tomorrow is never guaranteed. We realised that our weight was impacting both our daily lives and our health and we committed to ensuring we improved our diet and lifestyle. In September 2024 we started the Human Being Diet and 14 months later have lost just over 16 stone between us. I still have a couple of stone to go to reach a healthy BMI.
We started walking daily ensuring that we aimed to walk 10500 steps each day. This became a regular event with us frequently walking more, and the idea of entering the ultramarathon as a family was suggested by Emily. Somehow we are now committed!
Barney was a kind, funny, thoughtful and at times pretty crazy lad who was the best friend he could be to Tom. He is greatly missed but his Foundation exists, supporting Barney’s life principles of inclusion and sport. The foundation provides funds to support children and young people facing life’s challenges, and also to support youth sport, especially grass roots cricket. Please have a look at the Foundation website for further information and if possible donate to our fundraiser
