Run For The Peter Gough Foundation

Carolann Guthrie is raising money for The Peter Gough Foundation

Scottish 10K 2026 · 16 August 2026 ·

The main area we want to focus on is sadly the most difficult of places to be, end of life care, and within that there can be many things we might be able to do. As Peter demonstrated during his illness, he spotted problems and then went out and sorted them. In themselves nothing outstanding but to those that benefitted really important. So that help will be whatever our challenge is at any given time. Maybe a piece of equipment, or financial support for a hospice or aim higher and fund something of a more specialist nature en route to something bigger, either way the journey starts now and we cannot do it unless we are successful in reaching out to whoever wants to support Peter and through him , the foundation. If you have an idea or are inspired to do something that can help us help others we’d love to hear from you. This is a marathon not a sprint 🧡 As always thank you for your support it means the world to us.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

About a year ago I joined New Jennaration Gym in East Kilbride and it's been such a positive journey Dawn and Jenna are so supportive in everything that everyone does.

After attending the gym bring your parent class with Sophie when we ran 3 times around the block I suddenly thought I was Liz McColgan.... I'M NOT !!! (it was the same night David told me I looked as if I had been hit with a baseball bat) Sophie told me she had signed up for the half marathon and I STUPIDLY said I could run a 10k...I CAN'T but I'm trying hard and I hope I will be able to.

We are choosing to raise money for the Peter Gough Foundation as it is an amazing, small, local charity set up in Dawn's husband Peter's name. Peter passed away in 2023 with bowel cancer, the charity is deeply important to everyone in the gym. This year they are supporting The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, Kilbryde Hospice, East Kilbride Dementia Care and SAMH.

So on the 16th of August I will be running the Scottish 10k and Sophie will be running the half marathon.
