SAKA was set up in 1976 by a group of medical staff and renal patients. We aim to help kidney patients and their families cope with kidney failure and we raise funds for research into kidney disease. We give direct financial help to renal patients when they are struggling, and represent their views.

Story

Hello, we are Purple Up North, a group of fans of the South Korean group, BTS. We get together at our annual big meet-up to have fun and raise money for charity.

This year we are in Sheffield and will be raising funds for SAKA. We chose this charity as one of our lovely members has kidney failure and has to do dialysis 5 days a week. We wanted to raise awareness and help out a local charity that does so much for people in the same situation.

In the run up to our meet-up in Sheffield, we will be auctioning items relating to BTS on our social media @purpleoopnorth and then on the day, will have a fun time watching music videos, games and quizzes and meeting other ARMY (the name for BTS fans).

SAKA exists to help and support all kidney patients in the Sheffield and surrounding area. CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) affects many people, particularly as they get older. Less than 1 in 10 of people with CKD will require dialysis or transplant during their lives.

Whatever stage patients are at, SAKA is there to help them, their families, friends and carers.
