I am running in memory of my Mam, Joyce Martin.

Mam was diagnosed with MND in June 2021 and after a courageous battle she died on April 1st 2022.

I will never forget the awful day sat in the consultants room at the RVI in Newcastle, receiving the devastating diagnosis, hearing Mam scream out and cry. Unless you have a loved one with this disease you cannot begin to imagine the devastation it causes. The weak grip then the arm which is no longer able to move, the same thing happening to the other hand and arm, drinking through a straw, unable to wash or toilet, then losing the ability to move your legs, unable to lie down to sleep, constantly propped up, unable to speak….. from the first symptoms to Mam dying was 14 months.

Please help me raise as much as possible, it is too late for my lovely Mam but please let’s find a cure for future generations.

Thank you for reading this. Carole xx
