Story
Dear friends,
I am stepping way out of my comfort zone to raise funds for one of the most underfunded humanitarian crisis taking place right now: the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
We all heard about the Rohingya fleeing from violence in Myanmar in 2017. What we haven't heard is that many of them have settled as refugees in Bangladesh where they live in makeshift shelters, built on deforested, unstable hillsides, providing little protection against extreme weather patterns arising from climate change.
As if leaving their home the first time wasn't enough, they are still being displaced. Last year alone, flooding and landslides forced some 24,000 refugees to abandon their homes.
I am joining an amazing group of women on a self-funded expedition to raise awareness on the impact of climate change on vulnerable communities and raise funds for UNHCR. We are coming together thanks to Her Planet Earth, an NGO that aims to empower women to mitigate climate change. As a team, we are aiming to reach $50,000 USD. I am personally aiming to raise $5,000 so I am counting on your support.
100% of the funds will go to UNHCR.
I never go out in nature because I am normally stuck at my desk but get ready for this: I will climb an alpine peak at close to 3,000m in the Furka Pass, bike 100km across mountainous areas and cross an icy lake on a Stand up paddle board! I can't believe I am doing this!!
Let me be the best reason you have to donate to UNHCR so we can celebrate World Refugee Day on June 20th making a tangible difference together.
I need you!
