Story
Dementia is a condition that can strike at any age, it does not discriminate. For those under 65, it's known as young onset dementia, and it affects individuals in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. Imagine the challenges of facing this diagnosis while still in the prime of life. That's why we, the Younger People with Dementia charity, are dedicated to supporting those living with this condition.
Our aim is to reduce social isolation and bring people together when they need each other most. We believe that no one should face dementia alone. We provide activities, support groups, education courses, social events and run a Making Memories Scheme.
In addition to grants and funding streams, we rely on fundraising to enable us to continue to provide our services. That's why we have a team embarking on a walk from Reading to Southampton (a total of 68 miles over three days) as part of the St James Way Pilgrimage Walk 2024. I will be joining them on this challenge.
This personal trek is not just about covering miles; it's about raising awareness and funds for our cause. By participating in this event, we hope to inspire others to join us in making a difference. We invite you to be part of our journey by donating to our fundraising page.
Every contribution counts, no matter how big or small. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by young onset dementia.
Thank you for your support!
